How to Care for Your Martingale Collar

We design our martingale collars to be fun, durable, and gentle on your hound’s neck—but like all good things, they’ll last longer with a little love and care.

Here’s how to keep your Pepper Grey collar looking its best.

✨ Everyday Care

  • Wipe it down: After beach outings, muddy walks, or rainy days, give the collar a quick wipe with a damp cloth to remove dirt and salt. This helps prevent build-up and keeps the colours vibrant.

  • Hang to dry: If the collar gets wet, let it air dry naturally. Avoid putting it near heaters or in direct sunlight for long periods, as this can weaken the fabric over time.

🫧 Hand Washing

To give your collar the longest life possible, we recommend gentle hand washing:

  1. Fill a bowl or sink with cold or lukewarm water.

  2. Add a small amount of mild detergent (free from bleach or harsh chemicals).

  3. Gently scrub the collar with your hands or a soft cloth.

  4. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove any soap.

  5. Air dry flat in a shady spot (avoid direct sunlight or heat sources).

🧺 Can I Machine Wash It?

You can, but we recommend saving this for the occasional deep clean:

  • Pop the collar into a laundry bag.

  • Use a cold, gentle cycle with mild detergent.

  • No tumble drying – air dry only.

🚫 What to Avoid

  • No harsh scrubbing or brushes – they can damage the polyester weave.

  • No soaking – extended time in water can loosen stitching and damage hardware.

  • No ironing or dry cleaning.

🌿 Long-Term Care

  • Store the collar in a dry spot when not in use.

  • Rotate between a few collars if you walk your grey often—this gives each one a chance to rest and dry out fully.
